He was born on July 26, 1983, in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Prince Georges’s County, Maryland. West attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland, where he played varsity basketball. He then attended St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he played for the Hawks men’s basketball team.
